Psalm 60

WBT 1 To the chief Musician upon Shushan-eduth, Michtam of David, to teach; when he strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, when Joab returned, and smote of Edom in the valley of salt twelve thousand. O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again. NIV 1 You have rejected us, O God, and burst forth upon us; you have been angry--now restore us! WBT 2 Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal its breaches; for it shaketh. NIV 2 You have shaken the land and torn it open; mend its fractures, for it is quaking. WBT 3 Thou hast shown thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment. NIV 3 You have shown your people desperate times; you have given us wine that makes us stagger. WBT 4 Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. NIV 4 But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner to be unfurled against the bow. "Selah" WBT 5 That thy beloved may be delivered; save [with] thy right hand, and hear me. NIV 5 Save us and help us with your right hand, that those you love may be delivered. WBT 6 God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and measure out the valley of Succoth. NIV 6 God has spoken from his sanctuary: "In triumph I will parcel out Shechem and measure off the Valley of Succoth. WBT 7 Gilead [is] mine, and Manasseh [is] mine; Ephraim also [is] the strength of my head; Judah [is] my lawgiver; NIV 7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is my helmet, Judah my scepter. WBT 8 Moab [is] my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me. NIV 8 Moab is my washbasin, upon Edom I toss my sandal; over Philistia I shout in triumph." WBT 9 Who will bring me [into] the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? NIV 9 Who will bring me to the fortified city? Who will lead me to Edom? WBT 10 [Wilt] thou not, O God, [who] hadst cast us off? and [thou], O God, [who] didst not go out with our armies? NIV 10 Is it not you, O God, you who have rejected us and no longer go out with our armies? WBT 11 Give us help from trouble: for vain [is] the help of man. NIV 11 Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless. WBT 12 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he will tread down our enemies. NIV 12 With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies.
