Psalm 7

DBY 1 {Shiggaion of David, which he sang to Jehovah, concerning the words of Cush the Benjaminite.} Jehovah my God, in thee have I trusted: save me from all my pursuers, and deliver me; NIV 1 O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, DBY 2 Lest he tear my soul like a lion, crushing it while there is no deliverer. NIV 2 or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. DBY 3 Jehovah my God, if I have done this, if there be iniquity in my hands; NIV 3 O LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands-- DBY 4 If I have rewarded evil to him that was at peace with me; (indeed I have freed him that without cause oppressed me;) NIV 4 if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me or without cause have robbed my foe-- DBY 5 Let the enemy pursue after my soul, and take [it], and let him tread down my life to the earth, and lay my glory in the dust. Selah. NIV 5 then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. "Selah" DBY 6 Arise, Jehovah, in thine anger; lift thyself up against the raging of mine oppressors, and awake for me: thou hast commanded judgment. NIV 6 Arise, O LORD, in your anger; rise up against the rage of my enemies. Awake, my God; decree justice. DBY 7 And the assembly of the peoples shall encompass thee; and for their sakes return thou on high. NIV 7 Let the assembled peoples gather around you. Rule over them from on high; DBY 8 Jehovah shall minister judgment to the peoples. Judge me, Jehovah, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity which is in me. NIV 8 let the LORD judge the peoples. Judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, according to my integrity, O Most High. DBY 9 Oh let the wrong of the wicked come to an end, and establish thou the righteous [man]; even thou that triest the hearts and reins, the righteous God. NIV 9 O righteous God, who searches minds and hearts, bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure. DBY 10 My shield is with God, who saveth the upright in heart. NIV 10 My shield is God Most High, who saves the upright in heart. DBY 11 God is a righteous judge, and a God who is indignant all the day. NIV 11 God is a righteous judge, a God who expresses his wrath every day. DBY 12 If one turn not, he will sharpen his sword; he hath bent his bow and made it ready, NIV 12 If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. DBY 13 And he hath prepared for him instruments of death; his arrows hath he made burning. NIV 13 He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows. DBY 14 Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, yea, he hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood: NIV 14 He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment. DBY 15 He digged a pit, and hollowed it out, and is fallen into the hole that he made. NIV 15 He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made. DBY 16 His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violence shall come down upon his own pate. NIV 16 The trouble he causes recoils on himself; his violence comes down on his own head. DBY 17 I will praise Jehovah according to his righteousness, and will sing forth the name of Jehovah the Most High. NIV 17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
