Romans 10

BBE 1 Brothers, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is, that they may get salvation. NIV 1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. BBE 2 For I give witness of them that they have a strong desire for God, but not with knowledge. NIV 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. BBE 3 Because, not having knowledge of God's righteousness, and desiring to give effect to their righteousness, they have not put themselves under the righteousness of God. NIV 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. BBE 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who has faith. NIV 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. BBE 5 For Moses says that the man who does the righteousness which is of the law will get life by it. NIV 5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." BBE 6 But the righteousness which is of faith says these words, Say not in your heart, Who will go up to heaven? (that is, to make Christ come down:) NIV 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' " (that is, to bring Christ down) BBE 7 Or, Who will go down into the deep? (that is, to make Christ come again from the dead:) NIV 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?' " (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). BBE 8 But what does it say? The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart: that is, the word of faith of which we are the preachers: NIV 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: BBE 9 Because, if you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and have faith in your heart that God has made him come back from the dead, you will have salvation: NIV 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. BBE 10 For with the heart man has faith to get righteousness, and with the mouth he says that Jesus is Lord to get salvation. NIV 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. BBE 11 Because it is said in the holy Writings, Whoever has faith in him will not be shamed. NIV 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." BBE 12 And the Jew is not different from the Greek: for there is the same Lord of all, who is good to all who have hope in his name: NIV 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, BBE 13 Because, Whoever will give worship to the name of the Lord will get salvation. NIV 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." BBE 14 But how will they give worship to him in whom they have no faith? and how will they have faith in him of whom they have not had news? and how will they have news without a preacher? NIV 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? BBE 15 And how will there be preachers if they are not sent? As it is said, How beautiful are the feet of those who give the glad news of good things. NIV 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" BBE 16 But they have not all given ear to the good news. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has had faith in our word? NIV 16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?" BBE 17 So faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. NIV 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. BBE 18 But I say, Did not the word come to their ears? Yes, certainly: Their sound has gone out into all the earth, and their words to the ends of the world. NIV 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: "Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world." BBE 19 But I say, Had Israel no knowledge? First Moses says, You will be moved to envy by that which is not a nation, and by a foolish people I will make you angry. NIV 19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, "I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding." BBE 20 And Isaiah says without fear, Those who were not searching for me made discovery of me; and I was seen by those whose hearts were turned away from me. NIV 20 And Isaiah boldly says, "I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me." BBE 21 But about Israel he says; All the day my hands have been stretched out to a people whose hearts were turned away, and who put themselves against my word. NIV 21 But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people."
