Romans 10

CSB 1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God concerning them is for their salvation! NIV 1 Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. CSB 2 I can testify about them that they have zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. NIV 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. CSB 3 Because they disregarded the righteousness from God and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted to God's righteousness. NIV 3 Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. CSB 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. NIV 4 Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. CSB 5 For Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: The one who does these things will live by them. NIV 5 Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: "The man who does these things will live by them." CSB 6 But the righteousness that comes from faith speaks like this: Do not say in your heart, "Who will go up to heaven?" that is, to bring Christ down NIV 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?' " (that is, to bring Christ down) CSB 7 or, "Who will go down into the abyss?" that is, to bring Christ up from the dead. NIV 7 "or 'Who will descend into the deep?' " (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). CSB 8 On the contrary, what does it say? The message is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. This is the message of faith that we proclaim: NIV 8 But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: CSB 9 if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. NIV 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. CSB 10 With the heart one believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth one confesses, resulting in salvation. NIV 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. CSB 11 Now the Scripture says, No one who believes on Him will be put to shame, NIV 11 As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame." CSB 12 for there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, since the same Lord of all is rich to all who call on Him. NIV 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, CSB 13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. NIV 13 for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." CSB 14 But how can they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? NIV 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? CSB 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How welcome are the feet of those who announce the gospel of good things! NIV 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" CSB 16 But all did not obey the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our message? NIV 16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?" CSB 17 So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ. NIV 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. CSB 18 But I ask, "Did they not hear?" Yes, they did: Their voice has gone out to all the earth, and their words to the ends of the inhabited world. NIV 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: "Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world." CSB 19 But I ask, "Did Israel not understand?" First, Moses said: I will make you jealous of those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that lacks understanding. NIV 19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, "I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding." CSB 20 And Isaiah says boldly: I was found by those who were not looking for Me; I revealed Myself to those who were not asking for Me. NIV 20 And Isaiah boldly says, "I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me." CSB 21 But to Israel he says: All day long I have spread out My hands to a disobedient and defiant people. NIV 21 But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people."
