Romans 8

BBE 1 For this cause those who are in Christ Jesus will not be judged as sinners. NIV 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, BBE 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. NIV 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. BBE 3 For what the law was not able to do because it was feeble through the flesh, God, sending his Son in the image of the evil flesh, and as an offering for sin, gave his decision against sin in the flesh: NIV 3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, BBE 4 So that what was ordered by the law might be done in us, who are living, not in the way of the flesh, but in the way of the Spirit. NIV 4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. BBE 5 For those who are living in the way of the flesh give their minds to the things of the flesh, but those who go in the way of the Spirit, to the things of the Spirit. NIV 5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. BBE 6 For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace: NIV 6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; BBE 7 Because the mind of the flesh is opposite to God; it is not under the law of God, and is not able to be: NIV 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. BBE 8 So that those who are in the flesh are not able to give pleasure to God. NIV 8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. BBE 9 You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if the Spirit of God is in you. But if any man has not the Spirit of Christ he is not one of his. NIV 9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. BBE 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. NIV 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. BBE 11 But if the Spirit of him who made Jesus come again from the dead is in you, he who made Christ Jesus come again from the dead will in the same way, through his Spirit which is in you, give life to your bodies which now are under the power of death. NIV 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. BBE 12 So then, my brothers, we are in debt, not to the flesh to be living in the way of the flesh: NIV 12 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation--but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. BBE 13 For if you go in the way of the flesh, death will come on you; but if by the Spirit you put to death the works of the body, you will have life. NIV 13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, BBE 14 And all those who are guided by the Spirit of God are sons of God. NIV 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. BBE 15 For you did not get the spirit of servants again to put you in fear, but the spirit of sons was given to you, by which we say, Abba, Father. NIV 15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ""Abba," Father." BBE 16 The Spirit is witness with our spirit that we are children of God: NIV 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. BBE 17 And if we are children, we have a right to a part in the heritage; a part in the things of God, together with Christ; so that if we have a part in his pain, we will in the same way have a part in his glory. NIV 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. BBE 18 I am of the opinion that there is no comparison between the pain of this present time and the glory which we will see in the future. NIV 18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. BBE 19 For the strong desire of every living thing is waiting for the revelation of the sons of God. NIV 19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. BBE 20 For every living thing was put under the power of change, not by its desire, but by him who made it so, in hope NIV 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope BBE 21 That all living things will be made free from the power of death and will have a part with the free children of God in glory. NIV 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. BBE 22 For we are conscious that all living things are weeping and sorrowing in pain together till now. NIV 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. BBE 23 And not only so, but we who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we have sorrow in our minds, waiting for the time when we will take our place as sons, that is, the salvation of our bodies. NIV 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. BBE 24 For our salvation is by hope: but hope which is seen is not hope: for who is hoping for what he sees? NIV 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? BBE 25 But if we have hope for that which we see not, then we will be able to go on waiting for it. NIV 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. BBE 26 And in the same way the Spirit is a help to our feeble hearts: for we are not able to make prayer to God in the right way; but the Spirit puts our desires into words which are not in our power to say; NIV 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. BBE 27 And he who is the searcher of hearts has knowledge of the mind of the Spirit, because he is making prayers for the saints in agreement with the mind of God. NIV 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will. BBE 28 And we are conscious that all things are working together for good to those who have love for God, and have been marked out by his purpose. NIV 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. BBE 29 Because those of whom he had knowledge before they came into existence, were marked out by him to be made like his Son, so that he might be the first among a band of brothers: NIV 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. BBE 30 And those who were marked out by him were named; and those who were named were given righteousness; and to those to whom he gave righteousness, in the same way he gave glory. NIV 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. BBE 31 What may we say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? NIV 31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? BBE 32 He who did not keep back his only Son, but gave him up for us all, will he not with him freely give us all things? NIV 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? BBE 33 Who will say anything against the saints of God? It is God who makes us clear from evil; NIV 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. BBE 34 Who will give a decision against us? It is Christ Jesus who not only was put to death, but came again from the dead, who is now at the right hand of God, taking our part. NIV 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. BBE 35 Who will come between us and the love of Christ? Will trouble, or pain, or cruel acts, or the need of food or of clothing, or danger, or the sword? NIV 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? BBE 36 As it is said in the holy Writings, Because of you we are put to death every day; we are like sheep ready for destruction. NIV 36 As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." BBE 37 But we are able to overcome all these things and more through his love. NIV 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. BBE 38 For I am certain that not death, or life, or angels, or rulers, or things present, or things to come, or powers, NIV 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, BBE 39 Or things on high, or things under the earth, or anything which is made, will be able to come between us and the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. NIV 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
