Romans 8

NKJV 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. NIV 1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, NKJV 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. NIV 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. NKJV 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, NIV 3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man, NKJV 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. NIV 4 in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit. NKJV 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. NIV 5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. NKJV 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. NIV 6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; NKJV 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. NIV 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so. NKJV 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. NIV 8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God. NKJV 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. NIV 9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. NKJV 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. NIV 10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. NKJV 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. NIV 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. NKJV 12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. NIV 12 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation--but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. NKJV 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. NIV 13 For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, NKJV 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. NIV 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. NKJV 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." NIV 15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ""Abba," Father." NKJV 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, NIV 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. NKJV 17 and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. NIV 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory. NKJV 18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. NIV 18 I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. NKJV 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. NIV 19 The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. NKJV 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; NIV 20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope NKJV 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. NIV 21 that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. NKJV 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. NIV 22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. NKJV 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. NIV 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. NKJV 24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? NIV 24 For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? NKJV 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance. NIV 25 But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. NKJV 26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. NIV 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. NKJV 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. NIV 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will. NKJV 28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. NIV 28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. NKJV 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. NIV 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. NKJV 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. NIV 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. NKJV 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? NIV 31 What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? NKJV 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? NIV 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? NKJV 33 Who shall bring a charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. NIV 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. NKJV 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. NIV 34 Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. NKJV 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? NIV 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? NKJV 36 As it is written: "For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter." NIV 36 As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." NKJV 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. NIV 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. NKJV 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, NIV 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, NKJV 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. NIV 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
