NLT 10 And with the land I have acquired Ruth, the Moabite widow of Mahlon, to be my wife. This way she can have a son to carry on the family name of her dead husband and to inherit the family property here in his hometown. You are all witnesses today.” NIV 10 I have also acquired Ruth the Moabitess, Mahlon's widow, as my wife, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property, so that his name will not disappear from among his family or from the town records. Today you are witnesses!" NLT 11 Then the elders and all the people standing in the gate replied, “We are witnesses! For he is the son of your daughter-in-law who loves you and has been better to you than seven sons!” NIV 15 He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth." NLT 16 Naomi took the baby and cuddled him to her breast.
