Titus 3

WNT 1 Remind people that they must submit to the rulers who are in authority over them; that they must obey the magistrates, be prepared for every right action, NIV 1 Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, WNT 2 not speak evil of any one, nor be contentious, but yield unselfishly to others and constantly manifest a forgiving spirit towards all men. NIV 2 to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men. WNT 3 For there was a time when we also were deficient in understanding, obstinate, deluded, the slaves of various cravings and pleasures, spending our lives in malice and envy, hateful ourselves and hating one another. NIV 3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. WNT 4 But when the goodness of God our Saviour, and His love to man, dawned upon us, not in consequence of things which we, NIV 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, WNT 5 as righteous men, had done, but as the result of His own mercy He saved us by means of the bath of regeneration and the renewal of our natures by the Holy Spirit, NIV 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, WNT 6 which He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; NIV 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, WNT 7 in order that having been declared righteous through His grace we might become heirs to the Life of the Ages in fulfilment of our hopes. NIV 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. WNT 8 This is a faithful saying, and on these various points I would have you insist strenuously, in order that those who have their faith fixed on God may be careful to set an example of good actions. For these are not only good in themselves, but are also useful to mankind. NIV 8 This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone. WNT 9 But hold yourself aloof from foolish controversies and pedigrees and discussions and wrangling about the Law, for they are useless and vain. NIV 9 But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. WNT 10 After a first and second admonition, have nothing further to do with any one who will not be taught; NIV 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. WNT 11 for, as you know, a man of that description has turned aside from the right path and is a sinner self-condemned. NIV 11 You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned. WNT 12 After I have sent Artemas or Tychicus to you, lose no time in joining me at Nicopolis; for I have decided to pass the winter there. NIV 12 As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, because I have decided to winter there. WNT 13 Help Zenas the lawyer forward on his journey with special care, and Apollos, so that they may have all they require. NIV 13 Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way and see that they have everything they need. WNT 14 And let our people too learn to set a good example in following honest occupations for the supply of their necessities, so that they may not live useless lives. NIV 14 Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives. WNT 15 Every one here sends you greeting. Greet the believers who hold us dear. May grace be with you all. NIV 15 Everyone with me sends you greetings. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all.
