15 Cuando Micaías se presentó ante el rey, Acab le preguntó:
—Micaías, ¿debemos ir a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad o desistir?
Micaías le respondió con sarcasmo:
—¡Sí, sube y saldrás vencedor, porque el Señor
dará la victoria al rey!

16 Pero el rey le respondió con dureza:
—¿Cuántas veces tengo que exigirte que solo me digas la verdad cuando hables de parte del Señor
?

17 Entonces Micaías le dijo:
—En una visión, vi a todo Israel disperso por los montes, como ovejas sin pastor, y el Señor
dijo: “Han matado a su amo.
Envíalos a sus casas en paz”.

18 —¿No te dije? —exclamó el rey de Israel a Josafat—. Nunca me profetiza otra cosa que desgracias.

19 Micaías continuó diciendo:
—¡Escucha lo que dice el Señor
! Vi al Señor
sentado en su trono, rodeado por todos los ejércitos del cielo, a su derecha y a su izquierda.

20 Entonces el Señor
dijo: “¿Quién puede seducir a Acab para que vaya a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad y lo maten?”.
»Hubo muchas sugerencias,

21 hasta que finalmente un espíritu se acercó al Señor
y dijo: “¡Yo puedo hacerlo!”.

22 »“¿Cómo lo harás?”, preguntó el Señor
.
»El espíritu contestó: “Saldré e inspiraré a todos los profetas de Acab para que hablen mentiras”.
»“Tendrás éxito —dijo el Señor
—, adelante, hazlo”.

23 »Así que, como ves, el Señor
ha puesto un espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos tus profetas, porque el Señor
ha dictado tu condena.

24 Entonces Sedequías, hijo de Quenaana, se acercó a Micaías y le dio una bofetada.
—¿Desde cuándo el Espíritu del Señor
salió de mí para hablarte a ti? —le reclamó.

25 Y Micaías le contestó:
—¡Ya lo sabrás, cuando estés tratando de esconderte en algún cuarto secreto!

INTRODUCTION TO 1 KINGS 22

This chapter relates, that after three years' peace with the king of Syria, Ahab was inclined to go to war with him, to take Ramothgilead out of his hands; and he drew in Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, to join him in it, 1Ki 22:1-4, but before they went into it, they took advice, Ahab of his four hundred prophets, which Jehoshaphat not being satisfied with, a true prophet of the Lord, Micahah, was sent for, 1Ki 22:5-14 who, when he came, jeered Ahab with what his prophets had said to him; intimated that he should be killed, and explained it to him how he came to be deceived by his prophets, 1Ki 22:15-23 upon which he was smitten on the cheek by Zedekiah, one of the false prophets, and imprisoned by the order of Ahab, 1Ki 22:24-28, after which the two kings went to the battle, and Jehoshaphat was in great danger of his life; but Ahab was wounded, and died, 1Ki 22:29-40, and the chapter is concluded with an account of the reign of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, 1Ki 22:41-50, and of Ahaziah king of Israel, 1Ki 22:51-53.
