1 Reyes 22:2-12

2 pero al tercer año, el rey Josafat de Judá fue a visitar a Acab, rey de Israel.

3 Durante la visita, el rey de Israel dijo a sus funcionarios: «¿Se dan cuenta de que la ciudad de Ramot de Galaad nos pertenece? ¡Sin embargo, no hemos hecho nada por recuperarla de manos del rey de Aram!».

4 Entonces se dirigió a Josafat y le preguntó:
—¿Saldrás conmigo a la batalla para recuperar Ramot de Galaad?
—¡Por supuesto! —contestó Josafat al rey de Israel—. Tú y yo somos como uno solo. Mis tropas son tus tropas y mis caballos son tus caballos.

5 Entonces agregó:
—Pero primero averigüemos qué dice el Señor
.

6 Así que el rey de Israel convocó a los profetas, unos cuatrocientos en total, y les preguntó:
—¿Debo ir a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad o desistir?
Todos ellos contestaron:
—¡Sí, adelante! El Señor dará la victoria al rey.

7 Pero Josafat preguntó:
—¿Acaso no hay también un profeta del Señor
aquí? Debemos hacerle la misma pregunta.

8 El rey de Israel contestó a Josafat:
—Hay un hombre más que podría consultar al Señor
por nosotros, pero lo detesto. ¡Nunca me profetiza nada bueno, solo desgracias! Se llama Micaías, hijo de Imla.
—¡Un rey no debería hablar de esa manera! —respondió Josafat—. Escuchemos lo que tenga que decir.

9 De modo que el rey de Israel llamó a uno de sus funcionarios y le dijo:
—¡Rápido! Trae a Micaías, hijo de Imla.

10 Micaías profetiza contra Acab
El rey Acab de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, vestidos con sus vestiduras reales, estaban sentados en sus respectivos tronos en el campo de trillar que está cerca de la puerta de Samaria. Todos los profetas de Acab profetizaban allí, delante de ellos.

11 Uno de los profetas llamado Sedequías, hijo de Quenaana, hizo unos cuernos de hierro y proclamó:
—Esto dice el Señor
: ¡Con estos cuernos cornearás a los arameos hasta matarlos!

12 Todos los demás profetas estaban de acuerdo.
—Sí —decían—, sube a Ramot de Galaad y saldrás vencedor, porque ¡el Señor
dará la victoria al rey!

INTRODUCTION TO 1 KINGS 22

This chapter relates, that after three years' peace with the king of Syria, Ahab was inclined to go to war with him, to take Ramothgilead out of his hands; and he drew in Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, to join him in it, 1Ki 22:1-4, but before they went into it, they took advice, Ahab of his four hundred prophets, which Jehoshaphat not being satisfied with, a true prophet of the Lord, Micahah, was sent for, 1Ki 22:5-14 who, when he came, jeered Ahab with what his prophets had said to him; intimated that he should be killed, and explained it to him how he came to be deceived by his prophets, 1Ki 22:15-23 upon which he was smitten on the cheek by Zedekiah, one of the false prophets, and imprisoned by the order of Ahab, 1Ki 22:24-28, after which the two kings went to the battle, and Jehoshaphat was in great danger of his life; but Ahab was wounded, and died, 1Ki 22:29-40, and the chapter is concluded with an account of the reign of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, 1Ki 22:41-50, and of Ahaziah king of Israel, 1Ki 22:51-53.
