23 Descubran sus escondites y vuelvan cuando estén seguros. Después yo iré con ustedes. Y si está en la región, lo rastrearé, ¡aunque tenga que buscar en cada escondite de Judá!

24 Entonces los hombres de Zif regresaron a su casa antes de que se fuera Saúl.
Mientras tanto, David y sus hombres se trasladaron al desierto de Maón, en el valle de Arabá, al sur de Jesimón.

25 Cuando David se enteró de que Saúl y sus hombres lo estaban buscando, se internó aún más en el desierto hasta llegar a la roca grande, y permaneció allí en el desierto de Maón. Pero Saúl andaba tras él en el desierto.

26 Saúl y David se encontraban en lados opuestos de una montaña. Justo cuando Saúl y sus hombres comenzaban a cercar a David y a sus hombres,

27 le llegó un mensaje urgente al rey que le informaba que los filisteos nuevamente asaltaban a Israel.

28 Entonces Saúl dejó de perseguir a David y regresó para luchar contra los filisteos. Desde entonces, el lugar donde David acampó se llama Roca de Escape.

29 Después David fue a vivir a las fortalezas de En-gadi.

INTRODUCTION TO FIRST SAMUEL 23

This chapter gives an account of David's relieving Keilah, when it had like to have fallen into the hands of the Philistines, 1Sa 23:1-6; and of Saul's design to surprise him there, which David having notice of, and inquiring of the Lord, departed from thence; which when Saul heard of, he forbore to come forth, 1Sa 23:7-13; and of David's being in the wilderness of Ziph, where, in a wood there, he had an interview with Jonathan, 1Sa 23:14-18; and of the Ziphites offering to deliver him up to Saul, for which he commends them, and gives them instructions how they should behave to him in that affair, 1Sa 23:19-23; and of his seeking him in the wilderness of Maon, where David and his men were in great danger of being taken; which was prevented by the news of the Philistines invading the land coming to Saul just at the nick of time, 1Sa 23:24-29.
