1 Samuel 28:1-6

1 Y aconteció que en aquellos días los filisteos juntaron sus campos para pelear contra Israel. Y dijo Aquis a David: Sabe de cierto que has de salir conmigo a campaña, tú y los tuyos

2 Y David respondió a Aquis: Sabrás pues lo que hará tu siervo. Y Aquis dijo a David: Por tanto, te haré guarda de mi cabeza todos los días

3 Ya Samuel había muerto, y todo Israel lo había lamentado, y le habían sepultado en Ramá, en su ciudad. Y Saúl había echado de la tierra los espiritistas y adivinos

4 Pues cuando los filisteos se juntaron, vinieron y asentaron campamento en Sunem; y Saúl juntó a todo Israel, y asentaron campamento en Gilboa

5 Y cuando vio Saúl el campamento de los filisteos, temió, y se turbó su corazón en gran manera

6 Y consultó Saúl al SEÑOR; pero el SEÑOR no le respondió, ni por sueños, ni por Urim, ni por profetas

INTRODUCTION TO FIRST SAMUEL 28

The Philistines gathering together, to fight with Israel, Saul trembled at it, not being able to get any answer from the Lord about it in any way whatever, 1Sa 28:1-6; upon which he applies to a woman that had a familiar spirit to bring him up Samuel, which she did, 1Sa 28:7-14; and what passed between Saul and Samuel, or at least the apparition in his form, is recorded, 1Sa 28:15-19; which so struck him, as to make him strengthless, and so melancholy, that he refused to eat until persuaded, or rather compelled, by the woman and his servants, 1Sa 28:20-25.
