29 Sin embargo, no destruyó los becerros de oro que estaban en Betel y en Dan, con los cuales Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, había hecho pecar a Israel.

30 No obstante, el Señor
le dijo a Jehú: «Hiciste bien al seguir mis instrucciones de destruir a la familia de Acab. Por lo tanto, tus descendientes serán reyes de Israel hasta la cuarta generación»;

31 pero Jehú no obedeció con todo el corazón la ley del Señor
, Dios de Israel. Se negó a abandonar los pecados que Jeroboam hizo cometer a Israel.

32 Muerte de Jehú
Por ese tiempo, el Señor
comenzó a reducir el tamaño del territorio de Israel. El rey Hazael conquistó varias regiones del país

33 al oriente del río Jordán, entre ellas, toda la tierra de Galaad, de Gad, de Rubén y de Manasés. El área que conquistó se extendía desde la ciudad de Aroer, cerca del valle del Arnón, hasta tan al norte como Galaad y Basán.

34 Los otros acontecimientos del reinado de Jehú —todo lo que hizo y todos sus logros— están registrados en

35 Cuando Jehú murió, lo enterraron en Samaria; y su hijo Joacaz lo sucedió en el trono.

INTRODUCTION TO 2 KINGS 10

This chapter gives a further account of the destruction of the house of Ahab by Jehu, or his orders, even of all his sons and relations, 2Ki 10:1-11, and also of the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, 2Ki 10:12-14, of his taking up Jehonadab the son of Rechab into his chariot, to be a witness of his zeal for the Lord, 2Ki 10:15-17, and of his gathering together the prophets, priests, and worshippers of Baal, and slaying them, 2Ki 10:18-25 and of his extirpation of the idolatry of Baal, 2Ki 10:26-28, nevertheless he continued the worship of the calves, 2Ki 10:29-31 wherefore Israel was distressed by the king of Syria, 2Ki 10:32,33 and the chapter is concluded with the reign and death of Jehu, 2Ki 10:34,35.
