2 Samuel 12:10-20

10 Por lo cual ahora no se apartará la espada de tu casa perpetuamente; por cuanto me menospreciaste, y tomaste la mujer de Urías el heteo para que fuera tu mujer

11 Así dijo el SEÑOR: He aquí yo despertaré sobre ti mal de tu misma casa, y tomaré tus mujeres delante de tus ojos, y las daré a tu prójimo, el cual yacerá con tus mujeres a la vista de este sol

12 Porque tú lo hiciste en secreto; mas yo haré esto delante de todo Israel, y delante del sol

13 Entonces dijo David a Natán: Pequé contra el SEÑOR. Y Natán dijo a David: También el SEÑOR ha remitido tu pecado; no morirás

14 Mas por cuanto con este negocio hiciste blasfemar a los enemigos del SEÑOR, el hijo que te ha nacido morirá ciertamente

15 Y Natán se volvió a su casa. Y el SEÑOR hirió al niño que la mujer de Urías había dado a luz a David, y enfermó gravemente

16 Entonces rogó David a Dios por el niño; y ayunó David, y vino, y pasó la noche acostado en tierra

17 Y levantándose los ancianos de su casa fueron a él para hacerlo levantar de la tierra; mas él no quiso, ni comió con ellos pan

18 Y al séptimo día murió el niño; pero sus siervos no osaban hacerle saber que el niño había muerto, diciendo entre sí: Cuando el niño aun vivía, le hablábamos, y no quería oír nuestra voz; ¿pues cuánto más mal le hará, si le dijéremos que el niño ha muerto

19 Mas David viendo a sus siervos hablar entre sí, entendió que el niño había muerto; por lo que dijo David a sus siervos: ¿Ha muerto el niño? Y ellos respondieron: Ha muerto

20 Entonces David se levantó de tierra, y se lavó y se ungió, y mudó sus ropas, y entró a la Casa del SEÑOR, y adoró. Y después vino a su casa, y demandó, y le pusieron pan, y comió

INTRODUCTION TO SECOND SAMUEL 12

Nathan is sent to David to charge him with his sin, and convince him of it by a parable, 2Sa 12:1-6; which being accommodated and applied to David's case, brought him to a conviction and acknowledgment of it, and repentance for it, which was forgiven him, 2Sa 12:7-13; though he is told the child begotten in adultery should die, and it was quickly struck with sickness and died; and David's behaviour during its sickness and at its death is recorded, 2Sa 12:14-23; after which Solomon was born to him of the same woman, and had the name of Jedidiah given him by the Lord, which signifies the beloved of the Lord, and as a token of reconciliation, and a confirmation of his sin being forgiven him, 2Sa 12:24,25; and the chapter is concluded with the taking of the city of Rabbah, and the spoil in it, and the usage of the inhabitants of it, 2Sa 12:26-31.
