2 Samuel 19:13-23

13 Asimismo diréis a Amasa: ¿No eres tú también hueso mío y carne mía? Así me haga Dios, y así me añada, si no fueres general del ejército delante de mí para siempre, en lugar de Joab

14 Así inclinó el corazón de todos los varones de Judá, como el de un varón, para que enviaran a decir al rey: Vuelve tú, y todos tus siervos

15 Volvió, pues, el rey, y vino hasta el Jordán. Y Judá vino a Gilgal, a recibir al rey y hacerlo pasar el Jordán

16 Y Simei hijo de Gera, hijo de Jemini, que era de Bahurim, se dio prisa a venir con los varones de Judá a recibir al rey David

17 y con él venían mil hombres de Benjamín; asimismo Siba criado de la casa de Saúl, con sus quince hijos y sus veinte siervos, los cuales pasaron el Jordán delante del rey

18 Atravesó después la barca para pasar la familia del rey, y para hacer lo que le quisiera. Entonces Simei hijo de Gera se postró delante del rey pasando él el Jordán

19 Y dijo al rey: No me impute mi señor mi iniquidad, ni tengas memoria de los males que tu siervo hizo el día que mi señor el rey salió de Jerusalén, para guardarlos el rey en su corazón

20 Porque yo tu siervo conozco haber pecado, y he venido hoy el primero de toda la casa de José, para descender a recibir a mi señor el rey

21 Y Abisai hijo de Sarvia respondió y dijo: ¿No ha de morir por esto Simei, que maldijo al ungido del SEÑOR

22 David entonces dijo: ¿Qué tenéis vosotros conmigo, hijos de Sarvia, que me habéis de ser hoy adversarios? ¿Ha de morir hoy alguno en Israel? ¿No conozco yo que hoy soy rey sobre Israel

23 Y dijo el rey a Simei: No morirás. Y el rey se lo juró

INTRODUCTION TO SECOND SAMUEL 19

David indulging to too much grief for the death of his son, is rebuked by Joab, and threatened with a revolt of the people from him, if he did not change his conduct, which be accordingly did, 2Sa 19:1-8; upon which the men of Israel were the first that moved for the bringing him back to Jerusalem, and the men of Judah were solicited to join with them in it, which was effected, 2Sa 19:9-15; and at Jordan, Shimei, that had cursed him, met him, and asked his pardon, and was forgiven, 2Sa 19:16-23; and when come to Jerusalem, Mephibosheth excused so well his not going out with him, that he had half his land restored to him, which had been given to his servant, 2Sa 19:24-30; and Barzillai, who had very liberally supplied the king, was allowed to return to his own city, and Chimham his son was taken to court, 2Sa 19:31-40; and a contention arose between the men of Israel and of Judah about the restoration of the king, which issued in an insurrection, as the next chapter shows, 2Sa 19:41-43.
