18 Thus I hated1all the fruit of my labor for which I had laboredunder the sun, for I must 2leave it to the manwho will comeafter me.
19
And whoknows whether he will be a wisemanor3a fool? Yet he will have controloverall the fruit of my labor for which I have labored by actingwiselyunder the sun. Thistoo is 4vanity.
20
Therefore I completely*despaired of all the fruit of my labor for which I had laboredunder the sun.
21
Whenthere is a manwho has labored with wisdom, knowledge and 5skill, then he 6gives his legacy to onewho has not labored with them. Thistoo is vanity and a greatevil.
22
For what does a manget in 7all his labor and in his striving with which he laborsunder the sun?
23
Becauseall his days his task is painful and 8grievous; even at night his mind9does not rest. Thistoo is vanity.
24
There is 10nothingbetter for a man than to eat and drink and tellhimself that his labor is good. Thisalso I have seen that it is 11from the hand of God.
25
For who can eat and who can haveenjoymentwithout* Him?
26
For to a personwho is good in His sight12He has givenwisdom and knowledge and joy, while to the sinner He has given the task of gathering and collecting so that he may 13give to onewho is good in God'ssight. Thistoo is 14vanity and striving after wind.
