From whence come warsandfightings[a]amongyou? come they nothence, even ofyourlusts that warinyourmembers?

Ye lust, andhavenot: ye kill, and desire to have, andcannot*obtain: ye fightandwar, yet ye havenot,becauseyeasknot.

Ye ask, andreceivenot,because ye askamiss,that ye may consume it uponyourlusts.[b]

Ye adulterersandadulteresses, know yenotthat the friendship of the worldisenmity with God?whosoever*therefore will be* a friend of the worldis the enemy of God.

Do ye thinkthat the scripturesaith in vain, The spiritthatdwellethinuslustethtoenvy?

But he givethmoregrace.Wherefore he saith, Godresisteth the proud,butgivethgrace unto the humble.

Submit yourselvestherefore to God.Resist the devil,and he will fleefromyou.

Draw nigh to God,and he will draw nigh to you.Cleanse your hands, ye sinners;andpurify your hearts, ye double minded.

Be afflicted, andmourn, andweep: let yourlaughter be turnedtomourning,and your joytoheaviness.

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,and he shall liftyouup.

Speaknotevil one of another,brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother,andjudgethhisbrother, speaketh evil of the law,andjudgeth the law:butif thou judge the law, thou artnot a doer of the law,but a judge.
