18 For thisreasontherefore1the Jews2were seeking all the more to kill Him, because He not only was breaking the Sabbath, but also was callingGod His ownFather, 3makingHimselfequal with God.
19
ThereforeJesusanswered and was saying to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, 4the Soncandonothing* of Himself, unless* it is something He sees the Fatherdoing; for whatever* the Fatherdoes, thesethings the Sonalsodoes in likemanner.
20
"5For the Fatherloves the Son, and shows Him allthings that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him 6greaterworks than these, so that you will marvel.
21
"For just as the Fatherraises the dead and 7gives them life, evenso8the Sonalsogiveslife to whom He wishes.
22
"For not even the Fatherjudgesanyone, but 9He has givenalljudgment to the Son,
23
so that all will honor the Soneven as they honor the Father. 10He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.
24
"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and 11believes Him who sent Me, haseternallife, and 12does not come into judgment, but has 13passed out of death into life.
Two Resurrections
25"Truly, truly, I say to you, 14an hour is coming and now is, when15the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who 16hear will live.
26
"For just as the Fatherhaslife in Himself, evenso He 17gave to the Sonalso to havelife in Himself;
27
and He gave Him authority to 18executejudgment, because He is the Son of Man.
28
"Do not marvel at this; for 19an hour is coming, in which20allwho are in the tombs will hear His voice,
29
and will comeforth; 21those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.
30
"22I candonothing* on My owninitiative. As I hear, I judge; and 23My judgment is just, because I do not seek My ownwill, but 24the will of Him who sent Me.
31
"25If I alone testifyaboutMyself, My testimony is not true.
32
"There is 26another who testifies of Me, and I know that the testimonywhich He givesabout Me is true.
