331When they came to the placecalled The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.

But Jesus was saying, "2Father, forgive them; for they do not knowwhat they are doing."3And they castlots, dividing up His garmentsamong themselves.

And the peoplestood by, looking on. And even the 4rulers were sneering at Him, saying, "He savedothers; 5let Him saveHimselfifthis is the Christ of God, His ChosenOne."

The soldiersalsomocked Him, coming up to Him, 6offering Him sourwine

and saying, "7If You are the King of the Jews, saveYourself!"

Now there was also an inscriptionabove Him, "8THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

9One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurlingabuse at Him, saying, "Are You not the Christ? 10SaveYourself and us!"

But the otheranswered, and rebuking him said, "Do you not evenfearGod, since you are under the samesentence of condemnation?

"And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receivingwhat we deserve for our deeds*; but thisman has donenothingwrong."

And he was saying, "Jesus, remember me when You come in Your kingdom!"

And He said to him, "Truly I say to you, today you shall be with Me in 11Paradise."

12It was nowabout13the sixthhour, and darknessfellover the wholelanduntil the ninthhour,

because the sun was obscured; and 14the veil of the temple was torn in two.

And Jesus, 15crying out with a loudvoice, said, "Father, 16INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT." Having saidthis, He breathed His last.

17Now when the centurionsaw what had happened, he began 18praisingGod, saying, "Certainlythisman was innocent."

And all the crowds who cametogether for thisspectacle, when they observed what had happened, began to return, 19beating their breasts.

20And all His acquaintances and 21the women who accompanied Him from Galilee were standing at a distance, seeingthesethings.
Jesus Is Buried
5022And a mannamedJoseph, who was a 23member of the Council, a good and righteousman

(he had not consented to their plan and action ), a man from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who was 24waiting for the kingdom of God;

thismanwent to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

And he took it down and wrapped it in a linencloth, and laid Him in a tombcut into the rock, wherenoone had everlain.

It was 25the preparationday, and the Sabbath was about to begin.

Now26the womenwho had come with Him out of Galileefollowed, and saw the tomb and how His body was laid.

Then they returned and 27preparedspices and perfumes. And 28 on the Sabbath they restedaccording to the commandment.
