And He 1closed the book, gave it back to the attendant and 2satdown; and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

And He began to say to them, "TodaythisScripture has been fulfilled in your hearing."

And all were speakingwell of Him, and wondering at the graciouswords which were falling from His lips; and they were saying, "3Is this not Joseph'sson?"

And He said to them, "Nodoubt you will quotethisproverb to Me, 'Physician, healyourself! Whatever we heard was done4at Capernaum, dohere in 5your hometown as well.' "

And He said, "Truly I say to you, 6noprophet is welcome in his hometown.

"But I say to you in truth, there were manywidows in Israel7in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up for threeyears and sixmonths, when a greatfaminecameoverall the land;
26
and yet Elijah was sent to none of them, but 8only* to Zarephath, in the land of 9Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.
27
"And there were manylepers in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, but 10only*Naaman the Syrian."

And all the people in the synagogue were filled with rage as they heardthesethings;
29
and they got up and 11drove Him out of the city, and led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city had been built, in order to throw Him down the cliff.

But 12passingthrough their midst, He went His way.
