"When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things musttakeplace; but that is not yet the end.

"For nation will rise up againstnation, and kingdomagainstkingdom; there will be earthquakes in variousplaces; there will also be famines. Thesethings are merely the beginning of birthpangs.

"But be on your guard; for they will 2deliver you to the courts, and you will be flogged3in the synagogues, and you will standbeforegovernors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them.

"4The gospelmustfirst be preached to all the nations.

"5When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worrybeforehand about what you are to say, but saywhatever* is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the HolySpirit.

"Brother will betraybrother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up againstparents and have them put to death.

"6You will be hated by allbecause of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

"But 7when you see the 8ABOMINATION OF DESOLATIONstandingwhere it should not be (let the readerunderstand ), thenthosewho are in Judea must flee to the mountains.
