1 Jesus 1summoned His twelvedisciples and gave them authority over uncleanspirits, to cast them out, and to 2healeverykind of disease and everykind of sickness.

3Now the names of the twelveapostles are these: The first, 4Simon, who is calledPeter, and 5Andrew his brother; and 6James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

7Philip and Bartholomew; 8Thomas and 9Matthew the taxcollector; 10James the son of Alphaeus, and 11Thaddaeus;

Simon the Zealot, and 12JudasIscariot, the one who betrayed Him.

13ThesetwelveJesussent out after instructing them: "Do not go in the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter any city of the 14Samaritans;

but rathergo to 15the lostsheep of the house of Israel.

"And as you go, preach, saying, '16The kingdom of heaven is at hand.'

"Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freelygive.

"17Do not acquiregold, orsilver, orcopper for your moneybelts,
10
or a bag for your journey, oreventwocoats, orsandals, or a staff; for 18the worker is worthy of his support.

"And whatever*cityorvillage you enter, inquirewho is worthy in it, and stay at his houseuntil you leave that city.
12
"As you enter the house, 19give it your greeting.
13
"If the house is worthy, give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, takeback your blessing of peace.
14
"Whoever does not receive you, norheed your words, as you go out of that houseor that city, 20shake the dustoff your feet.
15
"Truly I say to you, 21it will be moretolerable for the land of 22Sodom and Gomorrah in 23the day of judgmentthan for that city.
