And they said unto him,InBethlehem of Judaea:forthus it is writtenby the prophet,

AndthouBethlehem, in the land of Juda,artnot the leastamong the princes of Juda:for out ofthee shall come a Governor, that shall rule[a]mypeopleIsrael.

ThenHerod, when he had privilycalled the wise men,enquiredofthemdiligently what time the starappeared.

And he sentthemtoBethlehem, and said, Go and searchdiligentlyfor the young child;andwhen ye have found him, bringme word again, that I may come and worshiphimalso.

When they had heard the king, they departed; and,lo, the star,which they sawin the east, went beforethem,till it came and stoodoverwhere the young childwas.

When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedinggreatjoy.

And when they were comeinto the house, they saw the young childwithMaryhismother,and fell down, and worshippedhim:and when they had openedtheirtreasures, they presented[b] unto himgifts;gold,andfrankincense,andmyrrh.

And being warned of Godin a dream that they shouldnotreturntoHerod, they departedinto their owncountryanother*way.

And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lordappeareth to Josephin a dream,saying, Arise, and take the young childandhismother,andfleeintoEgypt,and be thouthereuntilIbringtheeword: forHerodwillseek the young child to destroyhim.

When he arose, he took the young childandhismother by night,anddepartedintoEgypt:

Andwasthereuntil the death of Herod:that it might be fulfilledwhich was spokenof the Lordby the prophet,saying, Out ofEgypt have I calledmyson.

ThenHerod, when he sawthat he was mockedof the wise men, was exceedingwroth, and sent forth, and slewall the children that were inBethlehem,andinall the coaststhereof,from two years oldandunder,according to the timewhich he had diligently enquiredof the wise men.
