Daniel 2:42-49

42 Y los dedos de los pies en parte de hierro, y en parte de barro cocido, en parte el reino será fuerte, y en parte será frágil

43 En cuanto a aquello que viste, el hierro mezclado con tiesto de barro, se mezclarán con simiente humana, mas no se pegarán el uno con el otro, como el hierro no se mezcla con el tiesto

44 Y en los días de estos reyes, el Dios del cielo levantará un Reino que eternalmente no se corromperá; y no será dejado a otro pueblo este reino; el cual desmenuzará y consumirá todos estos reinos, y él permanecerá para siempre

45 De la manera que viste que del monte fue cortada una piedra, que no con manos, desmenuzó al hierro, al bronce, al tiesto, a la plata, y al oro; el Dios grande mostró al rey lo que ha de acontecer en lo por venir: y el sueño es verdadero, y fiel su declaración

46 Entonces el rey Nabucodonosor cayó sobre su rostro, y se humilló ante Daniel, y mandó que le sacrificaren presentes y perfumes

47 El rey habló a Daniel, y dijo: Ciertamente que el Dios vuestro Dios es Dios de dioses, y el Señor de los reyes, y el descubridor de los misterios, pues pudiste revelar este misterio

48 Entonces el rey magnificó a Daniel, y le dio muchos y grandes dones, y lo puso por gobernador de toda la provincia de Babilonia, y por príncipe de los gobernadores sobre todos los sabios de Babilonia

49 Y Daniel solicitó del rey, y él puso sobre los negocios de la provincia de Babilonia a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego; y Daniel estaba a la puerta del rey

Daniel 2:42-49 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO DANIAL 2

The subject of this chapter is a dream which Nebuchadnezzar had dreamed, but had forgot; upon which he calls his magicians and astrologers together, to tell him it, and the interpretation of it; threatening them with death if they did not, and promising them great rewards and honour if they did, Da 2:1-6, they urge the unreasonableness of the demand, and the impossibility of the thing; which so highly incensed the king, that he ordered their immediate destruction, Da 2:7-13, Daniel and his companions being in danger, he goes in to the king, and desires time, and he would show him what he had dreamed; which being granted, he spent it in prayer to God, Da 2:14-18, and the thing being revealed to him, he gave thanks to God, Da 2:19-23, and being introduced to the king, he both told him his dream, and the interpretation of it; which concerned the four monarchies of the world, and the everlasting kingdom of the Messiah, Da 2:24-45, upon which he was highly honoured, and greatly promoted by the king, Da 2:46-49.
