1 Now the LORDsaid to Moses, "Cut out for yourself 1twostonetablets like the formerones, and 2I will write on the tablets the words that were on the formertabletswhich you shattered.
2
"So be ready by morning, and come up in the morning to 3MountSinai, and presentyourselfthere to Me on the top of the mountain.
3
"4Noman is to come up with you, nor let anyman be seenanywhere on the mountain; even the flocks and the herds may not graze in front of that mountain."
4
So he cut out 5twostonetablets like the formerones, and Mosesrose up early in the morning and went up to MountSinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and he tooktwostonetablets in his hand.
5
6The LORDdescended in the cloud and stoodthere with him as he called upon the name of the LORD.
6
Then the LORDpassed by in front of him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORDGod, 7compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth;
7
who 8keepslovingkindness for thousands, who forgivesiniquity, transgression and sin; yet He 9will by nomeansleave the guilty unpunished, 10visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations."
8
Mosesmadehaste11to bowlowtoward the earth and worship.
9
He said, "12Ifnow I have foundfavor in Your sight, O Lord, I pray, let the Lordgo along in our midst, eventhough13the people are so obstinate*, and 14pardon our iniquity and our sin, and 15take us as Your own possession."

Beforeall your people17I will performmiracleswhich have not been produced in all the earthnor among any of the nations; and all the peopleamongwhom you live will see the working of the LORD, for it is a fearfulthing that I am going to perform with you.

12
"19Watch yourself that you makenocovenant with the inhabitants of the land into which you are going, or it will become a snare in your midst.
13
"20But rather, you are to teardown their altars and smash their sacred pillars and cutdown their 21Asherim
14
-for 22you shall not worshipanyothergod, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealousGod -
15
otherwise you mightmake a covenant with the inhabitants of the land and they would play the harlot with their gods and 23sacrifice to their gods, and someone 24might invite you to eat of his sacrifice,
16
and 25you might takesome of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters might play the harlot with their gods and cause your sons also to play the harlot with their gods.
18
"You shall observe27the Feast of UnleavenedBread. For 28sevendays you are to eatunleavenedbread, as I commanded you, at the appointedtime in the 29month of Abib, for in the month of Abib you came out of Egypt.
19
"30The firstoffspring from everywomb belongs to Me, and all your malelivestock, the firstoffspring from cattle and sheep.
20
"31You shall redeem with a lamb the firstoffspring from a donkey; and if you do not redeem it, then you shall break its neck. You shall redeem32all the firstborn of your sons. 33None shall appearbefore Me empty-handed.
21
"You shall work34sixdays, but on the seventhday you shall rest; even during plowingtime and harvest you shall rest.
22
"You shall celebrate35the Feast of Weeks, that is, the firstfruits of the wheatharvest, and the Feast of Ingathering at the turn of the year.
23
"36Threetimes a yearall your males are to appearbefore the LordGOD, the God of Israel.
24
"For I will 37drive out nationsbefore* you and enlarge your borders, and noman shall covet your land when you go up threetimes a year to appearbefore the LORD your God.
25
"38You shall not offer the blood of My sacrifice with leavenedbread, 39nor is the sacrifice of the Feast of the Passover to be leftover until morning.
26
"You shall bring40the very first of the firstfruits of your soil into the house of the LORD your God. "Y ou shall not boil a younggoat in its mother'smilk."
27
Then the LORDsaid to Moses, "41Writedownthesewords, for in accordance* with thesewords I have made42a covenant with you and with Israel."
28
So he was there with the LORD43fortydays and fortynights; he did not eatbread or drinkwater. And 44he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, 45the TenCommandments.
