Génesis 28:2-12

2 Levántate, ve a Padán-aram, a casa de Betuel, padre de tu madre; y toma de allí mujer de entre las hijas de Labán, hermano de tu madre.

3 Y el Dios Todopoderoso te bendiga, te haga fecundo y te multiplique, para que llegues a ser multitud de pueblos.

4 Y te dé también la bendición de Abraham, a ti y a tu descendencia contigo, para que tomes posesión de la tierra de tus peregrinaciones, la que Dios dio a Abraham.

5 Entonces Isaac despidió a Jacob, y éste fue a Padán-aram, a casa de Labán, hijo de Betuel arameo, hermano de Rebeca, madre de Jacob y Esaú.

6 Y vio Esaú que Isaac había bendecido a Jacob y lo había enviado a Padán-aram para tomar allí mujer para sí, y que cuando lo bendijo, le dio órdenes, diciendo: No tomarás para ti mujer de entre las hijas de Canaán,

7 y que Jacob había obedecido a su padre y a su madre, y se había ido a Padán-aram.

8 Vio, pues, Esaú que las hijas de Canaán no eran del agrado de su padre Isaac;

9 y Esaú fue a Ismael, y tomó por mujer, además de las mujeres que ya tenía, a Mahalat, hija de Ismael, hijo de Abraham, hermana de Nebaiot.

10 Y salió Jacob de Beerseba, y fue para Harán.

11 Y llegó a cierto lugar y pasó la noche allí, porque el sol se había puesto; tomó una de las piedras del lugar, la puso de cabecera y se acostó en aquel lugar.

12 Y tuvo un sueño, y he aquí, había una escalera apoyada en la tierra cuyo extremo superior alcanzaba hasta el cielo; y he aquí, los ángeles de Dios subían y bajaban por ella.

INTRODUCTION TO GENESIS 28

In this chapter an account is given of the charge Isaac gave to Jacob not to marry a Canaanitess, but to go to Padanaram, and take a wife from his mother's family, and of his blessing him before he sent him away, Ge 28:1-5; of the notice that Esau took of this blessing and charge, which led him to take a wife of the family of Ishmael, Ge 28:6-9; of the dream of the ladder, which Jacob had in his way to Haran, Ge 28:10-12; of the blessing which God conferred upon him there, Ge 28:13-15; of the awfulness of the place upon his awaking, and of his erecting a pillar in it, and giving a name to it, Ge 28:16-19; and of the vow he made to God, should he be supplied with the necessaries of life, and be kept in safety by him, Ge 28:20-22.
