Habacuc 3:6-16

6 Se detuvo, e hizo temblar la tierra, miró e hizo estremecerse a las naciones. Sí, se desmoronaron los montes perpetuos, se hundieron las colinas antiguas. Sus caminos son eternos.

7 Bajo aflicción vi las tiendas de Cusán, temblaban las tiendas de la tierra de Madián.

8 ¿Te indignaste, SEÑOR, contra los ríos? ¿Contra los ríos fue tu ira, contra el mar tu furor, cuando montaste en tus caballos, en tus carros de victoria ?

9 Tu arco fue desnudado por completo, las varas de castigo fueron juradas. (Selah) Con ríos hendiste la tierra;

10 te vieron los montes y temblaron, el diluvio de aguas pasó; dio el abismo su voz, levantó en alto sus manos.

11 El sol y la luna se detuvieron en su sitio; a la luz de tus saetas se fueron, al resplandor de tu lanza fulgurante.

12 Con indignación marchaste por la tierra; con ira hollaste las naciones.

13 Saliste para salvar a tu pueblo, para salvar a tu ungido. Destrozaste la cabeza de la casa del impío, descubriéndolo de arriba abajo. (Selah)

14 Traspasaste con sus propios dardos la cabeza de sus guerreros que irrumpieron para dispersarnos; su regocijo fue como el de los que devoran en secreto a los oprimidos.

15 Marchaste por el mar con tus caballos, en el oleaje de las inmensas aguas.

16 Oí, y se estremecieron mis entrañas; a tu voz temblaron mis labios. Entra podredumbre en mis huesos, y tiemblo donde estoy. Tranquilo espero el día de la angustia, al pueblo que se levantará para invadirnos.

INTRODUCTION TO HABAKKUK 3

The title of this chapter is a prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, composed after the manner of a psalm of David, and directed to the chief singer, Hab 3:1,19. The occasion of it is expressed, Hab 3:2 in which the prophet declares his concern for the work of the Lord, and the promotion of the kingdom and interest of Christ; and observes the various steps that were, or would be, taken for the advancement of it; for which he prays, and suggests that these would be after the manner of the Lord's dealing with the people of Israel, and settling them in the land of Canaan, Hab 3:3-15 and there being several things awful in this account, both with respect to the judgments of God on his enemies, and the conflicts and trials of his own people, it greatly affected the mind of the prophet, Hab 3:16 and yet, in the view of the worst, he expresses his strong faith in the Lord, as to better times and things, that would most assuredly come, Hab 3:17-19.
