Isaia 15:3-9

3 Essi si cingeranno di sacchi per le sue strade; tutti quanti urleranno sopra i suoi tetti, e nelle sue piazze, struggendosi in pianto.

4 Hesbon ed Eleale han gridato; la lor voce è stata udita infino a Iahas; perciò, la gente di guerra di Moab ha fatto un gran gridare; l’anima loro si è rammaricata.

5 Il cuor mio sclama per Moab; i suoi fuggenti se ne son fuggiti infino a Soar, come una giovenca di tre anni; perciocchè si salirà per la salita di Luhit con pianto, e si leverà un grido di fracasso nella via di Horonaim.

6 Perciocchè le acque di Nimrim saranno ridotte in luoghi deserti; e l’erba si seccherà, e l’erbaggio mancherà, e non vi sarà più alcuna verdura.

7 Perciò, quello ch’egli avrà riserbato, e ciò che avranno riposto, sarà portato nella valle degli Arabi.

8 Perciocchè le grida han circondati i confini di Moab, il suo urlo è andato infino ad Eglaim, il suo urlo è andato infino a Beer-elim.

9 E le acque di Dimon sono state ripiene di sangue; perciocchè io aggiungerò mali sopra mali a Dimon; io manderò il leone contro quelli che saranno scampati di Moab, e contro al rimanente del paese.

INTRODUCTION TO ISAIAH 15

This chapter is a prophecy of the destruction of the Moabites; two of their principal cities are mentioned as made desolate, Isa 15:1 the inhabitants in divers places are represented as weeping and mourning, and showing various signs of it, Isa 15:2,3 yea, not only the common people, but the armed soldiers also, Isa 15:4 nay, even the prophet himself, Isa 15:5 the reasons of which were the great drought, so that there were no grass, nor green thing, Isa 15:6 the carrying away of their good things, either by themselves or others, Isa 15:7 the flight and cry of the people to the very borders of the land, Isa 15:8 and the great effusion of blood, Isa 15:9.
