Isaías 37:1-6

1 Aconteció, pues, que el rey Ezequías, al oír esto, rasgó sus vestidos, y cubierto de cilicio vino a la Casa del SEÑOR.

2 Y envió a Eliacim mayordomo, y a Sebna escriba, y a los Ancianos de los Sacerdotes, cubiertos de cilicio, a Isaías profeta, hijo de Amoz.

3 Los cuales le dijeron: Ezequías dice así: Día de angustia, de reprensión y de blasfemia, es este día; porque los hijos han llegado hasta la rotura del agua , y no hay fuerza en la que da a luz.

4 Quizá oirá el SEÑOR tu Dios las palabras de Rabsaces, al cual envió el rey de Asiria su señor a blasfemar al Dios vivo, y a reprender con las palabras, que oyó el SEÑOR tu Dios; alza pues, oración tú por el remanente que aún ha quedado.

5 Vinieron, pues, los siervos de Ezequías a Isaías.

6 Y les dijo Isaías: Diréis así a vuestro Señor: Así dice el SEÑOR: No temas por las palabras, que has oído, con las cuales me han blasfemado los siervos del rey de Asiria.

INTRODUCTION TO ISAIAH 37

In this chapter are contained Hezekiah's message to Isaiah, desiring his prayer for him and his people, in this time of sore distress, Isa 37:1-5, the comforting and encouraging answer returned by the prophet to him, Isa 37:6,7, the king of Assyria's letter to Hezekiah, to terrify him into a surrender of the city of Jerusalem to him, Isa 37:8-13 which Hezekiah spread before the Lord, and prayed unto him for deliverance, Isa 37:14-20, upon which he received a gracious answer by the hand of the prophet, promising safety and deliverance to him, and destruction to the king of Assyria, of which a sign was given, Isa 37:21-35 and the chapter is closed with the slaughter of the Assyrian army by an angel, the flight of the king, and his death by the hands of his sons, Isa 37:36-38.
