Job 36:7-17

7 Nunca quita los ojos de los inocentes,
sino que los pone en tronos en compañía de reyes
y los exalta para siempre.

8 Si están encadenados,
y atrapados en una red de dificultades,

9 él les muestra la causa;
les hace ver sus pecados de soberbia.

10 Él capta su atención
y ordena que se aparten de la maldad.

11 »Si escuchan y obedecen a Dios,
serán bendecidos con prosperidad por el resto de su vida.
Todos sus años serán agradables.

12 Pero si se niegan a escucharlo,
serán muertos a filo de espada
y morirán por falta de entendimiento.

13 Los incrédulos están llenos de resentimiento.
Aun cuando Dios los castiga,
se niegan a pedirle auxilio.

14 Mueren en plena juventud,
después de haber malgastado la vida en inmoralidad.

15 Pero por medio del sufrimiento, él rescata a los que sufren,
pues capta su atención mediante la adversidad.

16 »Job, Dios está alejándote del peligro,
y te lleva a un lugar libre de angustia.
Está poniendo en tu mesa la mejor comida,

17 pero te obsesiona saber si los incrédulos serán juzgados.
No te preocupes, el juicio y la justicia prevalecerán.

Job 36:7-17 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO JOB 36

This chapter, with the following, contains Elihu's fourth and last discourse, the principal view of which is to vindicate the righteousness of God; which is done by observing the dealings of God with men in his providence, according to their different characters, and from the wonderful works wrought by him in a sovereign manner, and for the benefit of his creatures. This chapter is introduced with a preface, the design of which is to gain attention, Job 36:1-4; the different dealings of God with men are observed, and the different issue of them, and the different ends answered thereby, Job 36:5-15; and it is suggested to Job, that had he attended to the design of the providence he was under, and had submitted to it patiently, things would have been otherwise with him; and therefore Elihu proceeds to give him some advice, which, if taken, would be for his own good, and the glory of God, Job 36:16-25; and closes the chapter by observing the unsearchable greatness of God, as appears by the works of nature wrought by him, Job 36:26-33.
