Josué 22:28-34

28 Nosotros, pues, dijimos: Si aconteciere que tal digan a nosotros, o a nuestras generaciones en lo por venir, entonces responderemos: Mirad el símil del altar del SEÑOR, el cual hicieron nuestros padres, no para holocaustos o sacrificios, sino para que fuera testimonio entre nosotros y vosotros

29 Nunca tal acontezca que nos rebelemos contra el SEÑOR, o que nos apartemos hoy de seguir al SEÑOR, edificando altar para holocaustos, para presente, o para sacrificio, a más del altar del SEÑOR nuestro Dios que está delante de su Tabernáculo

30 Y oyendo Finees el sacerdote y los príncipes de la congregación, y las cabezas de los millares de Israel que con él estaban, las palabras que hablaron los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Manasés, estuvieron contentos de ello

31 Y dijo Finees hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, a los hijos de Rubén, a los hijos de Gad, y a los hijos de Manasés: Hoy hemos entendido que el SEÑOR está entre nosotros, pues que no habéis intentado esta traición contra el SEÑOR. Ahora habéis librado a los hijos de Israel de la ira del SEÑOR

32 Y Finees hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, y los príncipes, se volvieron de los hijos de Rubén, y de los hijos de Gad, de la tierra de Galaad a la tierra de Canaán, a los hijos de Israel; a los cuales dieron la respuesta

33 Y el negocio agradó a los hijos de Israel, y bendijeron a Dios los hijos de Israel; y no hablaron más de subir contra ellos en guerra, para destruir la tierra en que habitaban los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad

34 Y los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad pusieron por nombre al altar Ed; porque es testimonio entre nosotros que el SEÑOR es Dios

INTRODUCTION TO JOSHUA 22

The war with the Canaanites being ended, Joshua called to him the two tribes of Reuben and Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh, who came over Jordan with him to assist in it, and commended them for their obedience to Moses and to himself, and to God by them; and then dismissed them, with some instructions to keep the ways and worship of God, and with his blessing upon them, Jos 22:1-8; upon which they returned to their country, and when they came to the borders of it set up an altar by Jordan, Jos 22:9,10; which, when the children of Israel heard of, it gave them great offence, they fearing they were going to make a revolt from the pure worship of God, and therefore sent a deputation of princes to them, with the son of the high priest, to inquire into the matter, and expostulate with them about it, who did, Jos 22:11-20; and who received from them a very satisfactory answer, Jos 22:21-31; with which they returned and reported to the children of Israel, and which gave them pleasure, Jos 22:32-34.
