Levítico 16:1-10

1 El Día del Perdón
El Señor
le habló a Moisés después de la muerte de los dos hijos de Aarón, quienes murieron luego de haber entrado y quemado un fuego equivocado en la presencia del Señor
.

2 El Señor
le dijo a Moisés: «Advierte a tu hermano Aarón que no entre cuando quiera en el Lugar Santísimo que está detrás de la cortina interior; si lo hace, morirá. Pues allí está la tapa del arca —el lugar de la expiación—, y yo mismo estoy presente en la nube que está sobre la tapa de la expiación.

3 »Cuando Aarón entre en la zona del santuario, deberá seguir fielmente estas instrucciones: deberá llevar un becerro para una ofrenda por el pecado y un carnero para una ofrenda quemada.

4 Tiene que vestirse con la túnica de lino y la ropa interior de lino que se usa directamente sobre la piel. Amarrará la faja de lino a su cintura y se pondrá sobre la cabeza el turbante de lino. Estas son vestiduras sagradas, por lo que deberá bañarse con agua antes de ponérselas.

5 Aarón deberá tomar de la comunidad de Israel dos chivos para la ofrenda por el pecado y un carnero para la ofrenda quemada.

6 »Aarón presentará su propio becerro como ofrenda por el pecado para purificarse a sí mismo y a su familia, y así serán justos ante el Señor
.

7 Luego deberá tomar los dos chivos y los presentará ante el Señor
a la entrada del tabernáculo.

8 Después hará un sorteo sagrado para determinar qué chivo será apartado como ofrenda para el Señor
y cuál llevará los pecados del pueblo al desierto de Azazel.

9 Después Aarón presentará como ofrenda por el pecado el chivo escogido por sorteo para el Señor
.

10 Al otro chivo, el chivo expiatorio, escogido por sorteo para ser enviado al desierto, lo mantendrán con vida delante del Señor
. Cuando sea enviado a Azazel en el desierto, el pueblo será purificado y así serán justos ante el Señor
.

INTRODUCTION TO LEVITICUS 16

This chapter treats of the day of atonement, and of the rites, sacrifices, and services of it, directs when Aaron should come into the holy of holies, Le 16:1,2; and in what habit he should then appear, and with what offerings both for himself, and for the people, Le 16:3-10; and that having slain his own sin offering, and that for the people, he should offer incense before the mercy seat, and sprinkle that with the blood of both, Le 16:11-15; and by these offerings make atonement for the holy place, the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar, Le 16:16-19; and having done this, he was to take the live goat, lay his hands on it, confess over it, and put upon it all the iniquities of the children of Israel, and then send it away by a fit man into the wilderness, Le 16:20-22; upon which he was to put off his linen garments, wash his flesh, and put them on again, and offer the burnt offering for himself, and for the people, Le 16:23-25; also he that let go the goat, and he that carried and burnt the sin offerings without the camp, were to wash themselves and clothes also, Le 16:26-28; the observance of this day, once a year, which was on the tenth of the seventh month, as a day of affliction and atonement, was to be a statute for ever to the children of Israel, Le 16:29-34.
