And she went forth , and said unto hermother,What shall I ask ? And she said , The head of John the Baptist.

And she came instraightwaywithhasteunto the king, and asked , saying , I willthat thou giveme by and byin a charger the head of John the Baptist.

And the kingwas exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake,and for their sakes which sat with him , he wouldnotrejecther.

Andimmediately the kingsent an executioner, and commandedhishead to be brought : and he went and beheadedhimin the prison,

Andbroughthisheadin a charger,andgaveit to the damsel:and the damselgaveit to hermother.

And when hisdisciplesheard of it, they cameand took uphiscorpse,andlaiditin a tomb.

And the apostles gathered themselves togetheruntoJesus,andtoldhim all things,bothwhat they had done , andwhat they had taught .

And he said unto them,Comeyeyourselvesapart*into a desertplace,andrest a while:for there weremanycomingandgoing , and they had noleisure so much as to eat .

And they departedinto a desertplace by shipprivately*.

And the peoplesawthemdeparting , andmanyknewhim,andranafootthither out ofallcities,andoutwentthem,and came togetheruntohim.

AndJesus, when he came out , sawmuchpeople,and was moved with compassiontowardthem,because they wereassheepnothaving a shepherd:and he began to teachthem many things.
