Nehemías 6:1-6

1 Y fue que habiendo oído Sanbalat, y Tobías, y Gesem el árabe, y los demás de nuestros enemigos, que había yo edificado el muro, y que en él no quedaba portillo (aunque hasta aquel tiempo no había puesto puertas en las portadas),

2 Sanbalat y Gesem enviaron a decirme: Ven, y pactaremos juntos en alguna de las aldeas en el campo de Ono. Mas ellos habían pensado hacerme mal.

3 Y les envié mensajeros, diciendo: Yo hago una gran obra, y no puedo ir; porque cesaría la obra, dejándola yo para ir a vosotros.

4 Cuatro veces me enviaron mensajes sobre el mismo asunto por cuatro veces, y yo les respondí de la misma manera.

5 Entonces Sanbalat me envió a su criado para decir lo mismo por quinta vez, con una carta abierta en su mano,

6 en la cual estaba escrito: Se ha oído entre los gentiles, y Gesem lo dice, que tú y los judíos pensáis rebelaros; y que por eso edificas tú el muro, con la mira , según estas palabras, de ser tú su rey;

Sanballat and his brethren, hearing the wall was finished, sent to Nehemiah, to have a meeting with him at a place named, which he refused, Ne 6:1,2, then they sent him a terrifying letter, suggesting that he, and the Jews with him, would be treated as rebels, since their intention, as reported, was to make him king, which letter he regarded not, Ne 6:3-9, then they employed some that pretended to be prophets to advise him to flee to the temple for safety, which he rejected, Ne 6:10-14 and so the work went on and was finished, though there was a secret correspondence carried on between their enemies and some false brethren among themselves, Ne 6:15-19.
