6 Voici ceux de la province qui revinrent de l'exil, ceux que Nebucadnetsar, roi de Babylone, avait emmenés captifs, et qui retournèrent à Jérusalem et en Juda, chacun dans sa ville.

7 Ils partirent avec Zorobabel, Josué, Néhémie, Azaria, Raamia, Nachamani, Mardochée, Bilschan, Mispéreth, Bigvaï, Nehum, Baana. Nombre des hommes du peuple d'Israël:

8 les fils de Pareosch, deux mille cent soixante-douze;

9 les fils de Schephathia, trois cent soixante-douze;

10 les fils d'Arach, six cent cinquante-deux;

11 les fils de Pachath-Moab, des fils de Josué et de Joab, deux mille huit cent dix-huit;

12 les fils d'Elam, mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;

13 les fils de Zatthu, huit cent quarante-cinq;

14 les fils de Zaccaï, sept cent soixante;

15 les fils de Binnuï, six cent quarante-huit;

16 les fils de Bébaï, six cent vingt-huit;

INTRODUCTION TO NEHEMIAH 7

Nehemiah having built the wall, and set up the doors, appointed two persons to take the charge of the city, and set watches for the safety of it, and to take special care about opening and shutting the gates of it, Ne 7:1-3, and concerned he was for the peopling of it, and having found a register of the first comers to it, gives their names, Ne 7:4-69 and some account of the freewill offerings made for the work they came about, Ne 7:70-73.
