Psalm 62:1-6

1 Dem Vorsänger; für Jeduthun. Ein Psalm von David. Nur auf Gott vertraut still meine Seele, von ihm kommt meine Rettung.

2 Nur er ist mein Fels und meine Rettung, meine hohe Feste; ich werde nicht viel wanken.

3 Bis wann wollt ihr gegen einen Mann anstürmen, ihr alle ihn niederreißen wie eine überhängende Wand, eine angestoßene Mauer?

4 Sie ratschlagen nur, ihn von seiner Höhe zu stoßen; sie haben Wohlgefallen an der Lüge; mit ihrem Munde segnen sie, und in ihrem Innern fluchen sie. (Sela.)

5 Nur auf Gott vertraue still meine Seele! Denn von ihm kommt meine Erwartung.

Psalm 62:1-6 Meaning and Commentary

To the chief Musician, to Jeduthun, [A Psalm] of David. Concerning "Jeduthun," See Gill on "Ps 39:1," title. Kimchi thinks this psalm was written concerning the captivity; and Jarchi twtdh le, concerning the decrees and judgments made against Israel by their enemies; and so some of their ancient expositions {d}; but it seems to have been composed by David when in distress, either through Saul and his courtiers, or by reason of the conspiracy of Absalom. Theodoret takes it to be a prophecy of the persecution of Antiochus in the times of the Maccabees.
