Salmi 135:11-21

11 Sihon, re degli Amorrei, E Og, re di Basan, E i re di tutti i regni di Canaan;

12 E diede i lor paesi per eredità, Per eredità ad Israele, suo popolo.

13 O Signore, il tuo Nome è in eterno; O Signore, la memoria di te è per ogni età.

14 Quando il Signore avrà fatti i suoi giudicii sopra il suo popolo, Egli si pentirà per amor de’ suoi servitori.

15 Gl’idoli delle genti sono argento ed oro, Opera di mani d’uomini;

16 Hanno bocca, e non parlano; Hanno occhi, e non veggono;

17 Hanno orecchi, e non odono; Ed anche non hanno fiato alcuno nella lor bocca.

18 Simili ad essi sieno quelli che li fanno; Chiunque in essi si confida.

19 Casa d’Israele, benedite il Signore; Casa d’Aaronne, benedite il Signore.

20 Casa di Levi, benedite il Signore; Voi che temete il Signore, beneditelo.

21 Benedetto sia da Sion il Signore, Che abita in Gerusalemme. Alleluia.

Salmi 135:11-21 Meaning and Commentary

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 135

This psalm was written very probably by the same hand as the former. It begins in much the same manner; it has some likeness with Psalm 113 and 114. It begins and ends with "hallelujah"; and is throughout an exhortation of praise to God, on account of his name, nature, and perfections; and because of his works of creation, providence, and grace, many of which are enumerated. The Syriac interpreter says, there is an intimation in it of the conversion of the people of the Messiah unto the faith.
