Salmos 99:4-9

4 És Rei poderoso que amas a justiça; estabeleces a eqüidade, executas juízo e justiça em Jacó.

5 Exaltai o Senhor nosso Deus, e prostrai-vos diante do escabelo de seus pés; porque ele é santo.

6 Moisés e Arão entre os seus sacerdotes, e Samuel entre os que invocavam o seu nome, clamavam ao Senhor, e ele os ouvia.

7 Na coluna de nuvem lhes falava; eles guardavam os seus testemunhos, e os estatutos que lhes dera.

8 Tu os ouviste, Senhor nosso Deus; tu foste para eles um Deus perdoador, embora vingador dos seus atos.

9 Exaltai o Senhor nosso Deus e adorai-o no seu santo monte, porque o Senhor nosso Deus é santo.

INTRODUCTION TO PSALM 99

This psalm, with the foregoing from Ps 90:1 is ascribed to Moses by Jarchi and others; but cannot be his, since mention is made of Samuel in it, who lived many years after him. The Septuagint, Vulgate Latin, Syriac, Arabic, and Ethiopic versions, more rightly attribute it to David; the inscription of the Syriac version, after saying it is David's, subjoins,

``concerning the destruction of the Midianites, whom Moses and the people of Israel led captive;''

of which there is not the least mention in it; but it more truly adds,

``and a prophecy concerning the glory of the kingdom of the Messiah;''

as it undoubtedly is.
