I want to know1 Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings,2 becoming like him in his death,311
and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection4 from the dead.
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect,5 but I press on to take hold6 of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.713
Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind8 and straining toward what is ahead,
I press on9 toward the goal to win the prize10 for which God has called11 me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
All of us who are mature12 should take such a view of things.13 And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.1416
Only let us live up to what we have already attained.
Join with others in following my example,15 brothers, and take note of those who live according to the pattern we gave you.1618
For, as I have often told you before and now say again even with tears,17 many live as enemies of the cross of Christ.1819
Their destiny19 is destruction, their god is their stomach,20 and their glory is in their shame.21 Their mind is on earthly things.2220
But our citizenship23 is in heaven.24 And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,2521
who, by the power26 that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies27 so that they will be like his glorious body.28
