He makes grass grow1 for the cattle, and plants for man to cultivate-- bringing forth food2 from the earth:
wine3 that gladdens the heart of man, oil4 to make his face shine, and bread that sustains5 his heart.
The trees of the LORD6 are well watered, the cedars of Lebanon7 that he planted.
There the birds8 make their nests; the stork has its home in the pine trees.
The high mountains belong to the wild goats;9 the crags are a refuge for the coneys.a1019
The moon marks off the seasons,11 and the sun12 knows when to go down.
You bring darkness,13 it becomes night,14 and all the beasts of the forest15 prowl.
The lions roar for their prey16 and seek their food from God.1722
The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens.1823
Then man goes out to his work,19 to his labor until evening.2024
How many are your works,21 O LORD! In wisdom you made22 them all; the earth is full of your creatures.23
