Remember me,1 O LORD, when you show favor2 to your people, come to my aid3 when you save them,
that I may enjoy the prosperity4 of your chosen ones,5 that I may share in the joy6 of your nation and join your inheritance7 in giving praise.
We have sinned,8 even as our fathers9 did; we have done wrong and acted wickedly.107
When our fathers were in Egypt, they gave no thought11 to your miracles; they did not remember12 your many kindnesses, and they rebelled by the sea,13 the Red Sea.a8
Yet he saved them14 for his name's sake,15 to make his mighty power16 known.
He rebuked17 the Red Sea, and it dried up;18 he led them through19 the depths as through a desert.
He saved them20 from the hand of the foe;21 from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.2211
The waters covered23 their adversaries; not one of them survived.
Then they believed his promises and sang his praise.2413
But they soon forgot25 what he had done and did not wait for his counsel.2614
In the desert27 they gave in to their craving; in the wasteland28 they put God to the test.29
