Therefore the LORD was angry1 with his people and abhorred his inheritance.241
He handed them over3 to the nations, and their foes ruled over them.
Their enemies oppressed4 them and subjected them to their power.
Many times he delivered them,5 but they were bent on rebellion6 and they wasted away in their sin.
But he took note of their distress when he heard their cry;745
for their sake he remembered his covenant8 and out of his great love9 he relented.1046
He caused them to be pitied11 by all who held them captive.
Save us,12 O LORD our God, and gather us13 from the nations, that we may give thanks14 to your holy name15 and glory in your praise.
Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!"16 Praise the LORD.
