He handed them over1 to the nations, and their foes ruled over them.
Their enemies oppressed2 them and subjected them to their power.
Many times he delivered them,3 but they were bent on rebellion4 and they wasted away in their sin.
But he took note of their distress when he heard their cry;545
for their sake he remembered his covenant6 and out of his great love7 he relented.846
He caused them to be pitied9 by all who held them captive.
Save us,10 O LORD our God, and gather us11 from the nations, that we may give thanks12 to your holy name13 and glory in your praise.
Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Let all the people say, "Amen!"14 Praise the LORD.
