Some wandered in desert2 wastelands, finding no way to a city3 where they could settle.
They were hungry4 and thirsty,5 and their lives ebbed away.
Then they cried out6 to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress.
He led them by a straight way7 to a city8 where they could settle.

for he satisfies12 the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.1310
Some sat in darkness14 and the deepest gloom, prisoners suffering15 in iron chains,1611
for they had rebelled17 against the words of God and despised18 the counsel19 of the Most High.

Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them21 from their distress.
