His mouth is full of curses1 and lies and threats;2 trouble and evil are under his tongue.38
He lies in wait4 near the villages; from ambush he murders the innocent,5 watching in secret for his victims.
He lies in wait like a lion in cover; he lies in wait to catch the helpless;6 he catches the helpless and drags them off in his net.710
His victims are crushed,8 they collapse; they fall under his strength.
He says to himself, "God has forgotten;9 he covers his face and never sees."1012
Arise,11 LORD! Lift up your hand,12 O God. Do not forget the helpless.1313
Why does the wicked man revile God?14 Why does he say to himself, "He won't call me to account"?1514
But you, O God, do see trouble16 and grief; you consider it to take it in hand. The victim commits himself to you;17 you are the helper18 of the fatherless.
Break the arm of the wicked and evil man;19 call him to account for his wickedness that would not be found out.
The LORD is King for ever and ever;20 the nations21 will perish from his land.
