Teach me knowledge1 and good judgment, for I believe in your commands.
Before I was afflicted2 I went astray,3 but now I obey your word.468
You are good,5 and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.669
Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies,7 I keep your precepts with all my heart.
Their hearts are callous8 and unfeeling, but I delight in your law.
It was good for me to be afflicted9 so that I might learn your decrees.
The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.10
Your hands made me11 and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands.
May those who fear you rejoice12 when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word.1375
I know, O LORD, that your laws are righteous,14 and in faithfulness15 you have afflicted me.
May your unfailing love16 be my comfort, according to your promise17 to your servant.
