I call on you, O God, for you will answer me;1 give ear to me2 and hear my prayer.37
Show the wonder of your great love,4 you who save by your right hand5 those who take refuge6 in you from their foes.
Keep me7 as the apple of your eye;8 hide me9 in the shadow of your wings109
from the wicked who assail me, from my mortal enemies who surround me.1110
They close up their callous hearts,12 and their mouths speak with arrogance.1311
They have tracked me down, they now surround me,14 with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground.
They are like a lion15 hungry for prey,16 like a great lion crouching in cover.
Rise up,17 O LORD, confront them, bring them down;18 rescue me from the wicked by your sword.
O LORD, by your hand save me from such men, from men of this world19 whose reward is in this life.20 You still the hunger of those you cherish; their sons have plenty, and they store up wealth21 for their children.
And I--in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake,22 I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.23
