For the director of music. Of David the servant of the Lord.= He sang to the LORD the words of this song when the LORD delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said:

1 I love you, O LORD, my strength.1 2 The LORD is my rock,2 my fortress3 and my deliverer;4 my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.5 He is my shield6 and the horna of my salvation,7 my stronghold. 3 I call to the LORD, who is worthy of praise,8 and I am saved from my enemies.9 4 The cords of death10 entangled me; the torrents11 of destruction overwhelmed me. 5 The cords of the graveb coiled around me; the snares of death12 confronted me. 6 In my distress13 I called to the LORD;14 I cried to my God for help. From his temple he heard my voice;15 my cry came16 before him, into his ears.
