Psalm 18:40-50 (New International Version)

View In My Bible
40 You made my enemies turn their backs1 in flight, and I destroyed2 my foes. 41 They cried for help, but there was no one to save them3-- to the LORD, but he did not answer.4 42 I beat them as fine as dust5 borne on the wind; I poured them out like mud in the streets. 43 You have delivered me from the attacks of the people; you have made me the head of nations;6 people I did not know7 are subject to me. 44 As soon as they hear me, they obey me; foreigners8 cringe before me. 45 They all lose heart;9 they come trembling10 from their strongholds.11 46 The LORD lives!12 Praise be to my Rock!13 Exalted be God14 my Savior!15 47 He is the God who avenges16 me, who subdues nations17 under me, 48 who saves18 me from my enemies.19 You exalted me above my foes; from violent men20 you rescued me. 49 Therefore I will praise you among the nations,21 O LORD; I will sing22 praises to your name.23 50 He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed,24 to David25 and his descendants forever.26
