From birth1 I was cast upon you; from my mother's womb you have been my God.
Do not be far from me,2 for trouble is near3 and there is no one to help.412
Many bulls5 surround me;6 strong bulls of Bashan7 encircle me.
Roaring lions8 tearing their prey9 open their mouths wide10 against me.
I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint.11 My heart has turned to wax;12 it has melted away13 within me.
My strength is dried up like a potsherd,14 and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth;15 you lay mea in the dust16 of death.
Dogs17 have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have piercedb18 my hands and my feet.
I can count all my bones; people stare19 and gloat over me.2018
They divide my garments among them and cast lots21 for my clothing.2219
But you, O LORD, be not far off;23 O my Strength,24 come quickly25 to help me.2620
Deliver my life from the sword,27 my precious life28 from the power of the dogs.29
